As They Come

Focusing on the idea of "as they come" the proposed show will  focus on blind contours and gesture lines in space and pigment on paper, to capture the human form.  During the week of the show, a chair will be positioned in the center of the room with an easel.  It sits quietly, surrounded by blind contours, still gestures, active gestures, and progressive gesture charcoal drawings, hung around the perimeter of the room.  During the closing reception, the artists will take turns painting gestures of visitors "As They Come" into the space. The chair will no longer be a bystander of the show but rather becomes an active participant into the viewing experience.  As the paintings are produced, they become evidence of those who have arrived.
