Guest Artist Recital: Symbiosis Duo |
Event Type: | | Music |
Facility: | | Fine Arts Hall (FAH) |
Presented By: | | School of Music |
Description: | | SYMBIOSISDUO highlights the artistic achievements of two of the most accomplished musicians in the field of low brass performance and pedagogy. Gail Robertson (euphonium) and Stacy Baker
(tuba) formed SYMBIOSISDUO in 2007 to increase awareness of the euphonium/tuba duo as a performance medium and to promote and disseminate new works for this unique combination of
instruments. Symbiosis is defined as, ‘A relationship of mutual benefit or dependence' . . . the technical and range-requirements for each solo instrument are comparable, suggesting a ‘separate
but equal’ relationship. SYMBIOSISDUO’s eclectic debut recording was selected as finalist for the 2010 Roger Bobo Award for Recording Excellence by The International Tuba Euphonium
Association.
The Symbiosis Duo features Gail Robertson on Euphonium and Stacy Baker on Tuba. For more information, visit http://symbiosisduo.com/
