In honor of Don Kneeburg
This Trombone day will feature the following artists and Ensembles:
The USF Trombone Choir which features 16 current music majors from the
USF Trombone studio playing contemporary and classic works composed
and arranged for large trombone ensemble.
The USF Trombone Band which features the top jazz trombone students from USF as well as one of the top student USF jazz rhythm sections.
This will feature original compositions from members of the group as well as other classic and contemporary arrangements and compositions.
Student winners of the first annual trombone solo competition. Thisyears winners are three students: John Renfroe, Bass trombonist ,Masters Candidate in Trombone Performance; Dillon Swift, Tenor
Trombone, Junior Music Performance Major; Ryan Salazar, Tenor/Bass
trombonist , Junior Music Education Major.
Each of this fine musicians will be featured as soloists on the final performance of
Trombone Day.
The All Star Jazz Trombone Band featuring Keith Oshiro, Tom Brantley, Jerald Shynette, Chris "Crash" Clifton, tenor trombones; Jim Hall, Bass Trombone. Rhythm section will be announced. This group will perform classic works featuring each member of the ensemble.
The USF Alumni Trombone choir conducted by retired USF Trombone Professor Don Kneeburg and twenty four of some of the finest trombonists to graduate from USF over the past fifty years.
Throughout the day will be master classes and performances by Don Kneeburg, Tom Brantley as well as other guest.
