USF professor John Robison and guest soprano Maggie Coleman present an absolutely amazing
program of solo music for lute, theorbo, and archlute, along with English Renaissance and Italian
Baroque songs. The program includes solo music for 10-course Renaissance lute by English,
Flemish, French, Italian, and German composers, solo theorbo music by Piccinini, and archlute pieces
by Melii and Zamboni. All genres of early instrumental music will be represented on the program,
including preludes, dance music, variations, and fantasias. The vocal portion of the concert will
include Elizabethan lute songs by Campion and Dowland, plus Italian Baroque songs with the
continuo parts performed on the theorbo or archlute. |
