USF Chamber Winds: Effectively Dealing with the Devil |
Event Type: | | Music |
Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
Presented By: | | School of Music |
Description: | | In Effectively Dealing with the Devil USF turns to two great composers to tell the tale; primarily featuring the works of IgorStravinsky’s Histoire du soldat (The Soldier's Tale) and Gordon Jacob’s
The Barber of Seville Goes to the Devil. Stravinsky’s account of old Beelzebub tells the story of a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil for economic certainty. With thematic consistency, our
students will take on the "rumbustious parody" of Rossini’s Barber of Seville in The Barber of Seville Goes to the Devil, suggesting once again you can either haggle with Satan or just dare to laugh in
his face. Join us for a delightfully dramatic night of music and with some creative insight on how to effectively deal with the devil.
