Resident Artist Series: Happy Birthday, Bob Helps! |
Event Type: | | Music |
Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
Presented By: | | School of Music |
Description: | | USF’s beloved pianist-composer Robert Helps passed away at age 73 during the Fall of 2001. October 23 marks the date of his birth, and his devoted faculty colleagues celebrate his life and music in two programs in two cities where he worked and lived: in Tampa and in New York on November 3rd in Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. These programs will focus on the piano-solo and piano-string chamber music, and an archival exhibit documenting the life and work of this American legend will be displayed.
Join us after the concert for a recital given by Robert Helps himself; this varied program of Helps' legendary playing is taken from recordings held in Special Collections at the University of South Florida Library. |
