USF Wind Ensemble: How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall? Opus 1

Event Type: Music
Facility: School of Music (MUS)
Presented By: School of Music
Description:
The University of South Florida Wind Ensemble has received a coveted and rare invitation to perform

as a showcased ensemble in Carnegie Hall on March 4, 2014. Therefore, this year s concert series

shall be called, "How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?" The answer to that question is multifaceted, but

it involves a lot more than practice. The first concert will feature two premieres for which the Wind

Ensemble was a consortium participant. The first, "The Last Full Measure of Devotion," is a tribute to

the battle at Gettysburg during The Civil War. The second is entitled "The Builder" by exciting young

composer John Leszczynski. Other composers featured will include: Grainger, Stravinsky, Gould and

Godfrey.
