USF Wind Ensemble: How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall? Opus 1 |
Event Type: | | Music |
Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
Presented By: | | School of Music |
Description: | | The University of South Florida Wind Ensemble has received a coveted and rare invitation to perform
as a showcased ensemble in Carnegie Hall on March 4, 2014. Therefore, this year’s concert series
shall be called, "How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?" The answer to that question is multifaceted, but
it involves a lot more than practice. The first concert will feature two premieres for which the Wind
Ensemble was a consortium participant. The first, "The Last Full Measure of Devotion," is a tribute to
the battle at Gettysburg during The Civil War. The second is entitled "The Builder" by exciting young
composer John Leszczynski. Other composers featured will include: Grainger, Stravinsky, Gould and
Godfrey.
