Monday Night Jazz Series: DUKE’S IN TOWN |
Event Type: | | Music |
Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
Presented By: | | School of Music |
Description: | | DUKE’S IN TOWN, featuring JOHN LAMB with the USF Faculty Ensemble. Bassist John Lamb, with a big, soulful sound, perfect time, and a commanding stage presence, is a Bay Area treasure. As
Duke Ellington’s bassist, he toured the world and appeared on classic recordings including ‘The Far East Suite.’ He maintains a busy performance schedule after decades as a music educator, and a
few years ago traveled to Toronto to record ‘Conversations - North of the Border,’ which includes his composition, ‘Duke’s In Town.’ Lamb brings a singular insight into the incomparable music of Duke
Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. |
