Description: | | Classical music from South India also known as Carnatic music has its origin from the Vedic times
about 2000 years Before Christ. The Seven notes known as "Sapta Swaras" are, Sa, Ri, Ga, Ma Pa
Dha and Ni. Carnatic music is also blessed with thousands of written compositions by various
composers from various time period ranging from the 10th century, in Sanskrit and various other
South Indian languages set to various Raga's ( melodic scales) and Tala's ( rhythmic beats). The
concert features different forms of improvisations by the vocalist and answered by the violinist ( in
the Carnatic style ) and Mridangist( Carnatic percussionist) that are built around the songs and a
percussion solo towards the end of the concert. |
