East Meets West: A Cross-Cultural Experience, Part II

Description: 
The East Meets West theme continues with a concert of traditional and modern music co- sponsored 
by the USF Confucius Institute, USF World, and the School of Music. The performers for the concert 
include USF visiting scholar Zhan Jingyi (pipa, lute), College of Education PhD student Chen Huiruo 
(guzheng), Professors Bob McCormick (percussion), Kyoung Cho (soprano), Kim McCormick (flute), 
John Robison (lute), and staff pianist Dana Milan. Featured on the program will be The Heart of the 
Earth for pipa and percussion and a solo marimba piece by award-winning composer Chihchun Lee, 
music by Chinese composer Yi Chen, Korean art songs, Chinese traditional dizi solos transcribed for 
Western flute, guzheng solos, and Renaissance lute duets.
