Description: | | New York trombonist/composer Marshall Gilkes, widely acknowledged for his virtuosic technique and
passionate emotion, will be joined by the acclaimed USF Jazz Ensemble (conducted by Chuck
Owen) in a continuation of this year's "Monday Night Jazz Series". A current stalwart in the
orchestras of Maria Schneider & Colombian harpist Edmar Castaneda, and a frequent contributor to
the fiery combustion of New York's thriving Latin music scene; Marshall has also released 4 albums
as leader - the latest a stunning set of compositions for the WDR Big Band in Cologne that integrate
the myriad influences into a singular and distinctive voice. Gilkes was Downbeat magazine's Critics
Poll winner of the 2017 "Up and Coming Trombonist" award. |
