USF Wind Ensemble: How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall? Opus 2 |
Event Type: | | Music |
Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
Presented By: | | School of Music |
Description: | | The University of South Florida Wind Ensemble has received a coveted and rare invitation to perform as a showcased ensemble in Carnegie Hall on March 4, 2013. Therefore, this year’s concert series shall be called, "How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?" Tonight is a celebration of the band’s national recognition. So, if you attend, you are also someone special. Built around the masterwork by Paul Hindemith, Symphony in Bb, the program includes three compositions by composers whose centennial birth we celebrate in 2013: Morton Gould, Benjamin Britten and Norman Dello Joio. We will also introduce a new award-winning work by Scott Lindroth titled "Passage." Of course, that is the issue with getting to Carnegie Hall . . . paying for passage. |
