Visiting Artist Andrea Wallace Lecture

Event Type: Lecture
Facility: Communications & Information Sciences (CIS)
Presented By: School of Art & Art History
Description:
Andrea Wallace's "Toward Amnesia," is immersive, filled with texture and color, and possessing a fairy tale-like quality. The photographs are "constructed to speak to personal space, psychological space, and separateness," Wallace says. Images of herself, her son and close friends document a story of loss and a wish for amnesia to forget the painful experience and grief.

Andrea Wallace is the Director of Photography and Digital Media at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado. She received her MFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Before coming to the Ranch, she worked as Assistant Professor at Lake Forest College and Willamette University. Her film, Rochell and Brian, a documentary about teenage pregnancy, premiered at the New York International Independent Film Festival. She has exhibits nationally and internationally with numerous shows throughout the Americas, Europe, China and the Middle East.
