Description: | | The Shaughraun, by Dion Boucicault, provides the basis for this season’s BRIT (British International Theatre) Program. Utilizing the unique offerings of the University of South Florida Library’s Dion Boucicault Theatre Collection, visiting artists and scholars will work with USF Theatre students to revive this breathtaking Irish melodrama, first performed in New York City in 1874 to extraordinary popular acclaim. Directed by Malachi Bogdanov, Associate Artistic Director of the English Shakespeare Company, and designed by Bruce French, winner of the Theatre Design Trust Award, the production will undertake a determinedly physical theater approach, in keeping with the Theatre Department's commitment to vigorous, exciting, and challenging performance.
