Donny McCaslin is riding high!  Already widely regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary 

jazz - noted not only for his acclaimed recordings as leader but for his work with such celebrated 



musicians & bands as Steps Ahead, the Mingus Band, Gil Evans, Dave Douglas, Gary Burton, Danilo 

Perez, Tom Harrell, and Luciana Souza, amongst many others; he can now lay claim to a third 

GRAMMY nomination for  Best Improvised Jazz Solo , this time for his work with Maria Schneider s 

Orchestra.  In addition, the twitterverse is abuzz with the news that Donny s small group provides the 

backing for David Bowie s upcoming recording that Rolling Stone is already calling  stunning  weeks 

in advance of its Jan. 8 release!



 In his first appearance at USF, Donny will be showcased as soloist with the acclaimed USF Jazz 

Ensemble.  Special arrangements of his compositions appearing on his most recent recordings  Fast 

Future  &  Casting for Gravity  will be featured.
