Description: | | Angel’s Whisper is a group exhibition featuring work by current USF MFA students. An "Angel's Whisper" is a misleading and juvenile colloquialism (found on Urban Dictionary) for flatulence. The
show will explore the subversive power of misleading the public through a socially-constructed "feminine" exterior, that opens to reveal our realistically gross, painful, and bloody interior-body. The
work will explore themes of menstruation, repressive religious expectations for women, chronic pain, violent diaspora, grief, decomposition and decay, psychological turmoil, and social stigma. The
intention of the show is to ignite discussion into misleading constructed exteriors and iconography that contradict not only our disgusting insides, but our personal, social, and cultural struggles within. A
reception will be held Friday, February 14th from 6-8pm. All Carolyn M. Wilson Gallery exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public. The gallery hours are Mon- Thurs, 11am-3pm. 3801 USF
Holly Dr. Tampa, FL 33620. For reasonable accommodations, please contact Cassidy at 813-974-2360 or cassidysantos@usf.edu. |
