Donny McCaslin is riding high!  Already widely regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary 
jazz - noted not only for his acclaimed recordings as leader but for his work with such celebrated 

musicians & bands as Steps Ahead, the Mingus Band, Gil Evans, Dave Douglas, Gary Burton, Danilo 
Perez, Tom Harrell, and Luciana Souza, amongst many others; he can now lay claim to a third 
GRAMMY nomination for “Best Improvised Jazz Solo”, this time for his work with Maria Schneider’s 
Orchestra.  In addition, the twitterverse is abuzz with the news that Donny’s small group provides the 
backing for David Bowie’s upcoming recording that Rolling Stone is already calling “stunning” weeks 
in advance of its Jan. 8 release!

 In his first appearance at USF, Donny will be showcased as soloist with the acclaimed USF Jazz 
Ensemble.  Special arrangements of his compositions appearing on his most recent recordings “Fast 
Future” & “Casting for Gravity” will be featured.
