Guest Artist Recital: Max Lifchitz

Event Type: Music
Facility: School of Music (MUS)
Presented By: School of Music
Description:
Max Lifchitz, a renowned composer-conductor-pianist from State University of New York in Albany, will collaborate with USF musicians in a project called LIFCHITZ at USF-MUSIC. The program features all Lifchitz works with performances by Lifchitz and USF artist-faculty, Sang-Hie Lee, Kim McCormick, Calbert Falwell, Jay Coble, Kyoung Cho, and Robert McCormick Percussion Ensemble. The collaboration will culminate in a concert at USF on February 27, 2011, a subsequent concert in Albany, NY, and (we hope to obtain funds to perform) at Merkin Hall in New York City in the 2011-2012 season. With proper funding support, we plan to produce a CD using the state-of-the-arts recording facility in the new School of Music building.

This program is significant and distinctive because the program features a Mexican-born artist who has made a significant life-time contribution and achievement in the American musical scene as a pianist, composer, and conductor. Collaboration with Max will enhance USF music faculty artistsí opportunity to perform his stunning music, produce a CD of all Lifchitz work, and an intended concert tour of New York City and Albany.
