Description: | | Short and Sweet is the title of the next USF Wind Ensemble concert. It will occur on Thursday,
March 10, at 7:30 pm in the USF concert hall. The program is populated by shorter, excellent works
that are often neglected by wind bands for a variety of untenable reasons. Trittico is a three
movement composition that is packed with excitement and energy. We pay homage to former USF
Director of Bands, Dr. James E. Croft with a performance of Symphonic Movement, a piece written
specifically for him. We are also performing a brand new work for band entitled For Those Who Wait,
which is described as a meditation for wind ensemble. An exceptionally exciting feature of the
program is the inclusion of Circus Overture by William Schuman. An active imagination will hear
“Ladies and Gentlemen!” along with other aspects of a quality circus production. The whole program
is not long, but long enough to cause you, we hope, to want more. Please put this date on your
calendar and come to hear our Short and Sweet concert. |
