Description: | | USF March 28, 2016 featuring bassist John Goldsby, with the USF Faculty Jazz Ensemble The group
will perform music from John Golsbyâ?Ts many recordings along with some unique takes on jazz
classics. John Goldsby has played bass with the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) Big Band in
Cologne, Germany since 1994. Originally from Louisville, he was a protagonist on the New York
scene from 1980 through 1994. His recordings as leader include The Innkeeper's Gun, Space for the
Bass, The Visit [all Bass Lion], Cologne [a cooperative trio with Bill Dobbins and Peter Erskine on
Fuzzy Music], Viewpoint [Nagel Heyer], and Tale of the Fingers [Concord], in addition to countless
recordings as a sideman. His latest book is The Jazz Bass Book (Backbeat Books) |
