Blocking Above the Waist shines light on the medical illness of schizophrenia, a frequently misunderstood, but surprisingly prevalent disorder that has been estimated to affect well over 2 million
American adults - one of every hundred members of the population. In dramatic, but realistic, form Blocking tells the story of Steven, a popular and talented teenage athlete whose increasingly erratic
behavior triggers a shocking family tragedy. Clashes born of denial, stigmatization and isolation trace the all-too-common path of a young man's descent into a frightening world of jumbled reality,
emotional distress and troubled relationships.
This play contains adult language and theatical violence. |
