Guest Artist Recital: "Andiamo" - Christina Adams, Violin |
| Event Type: | | Music |
| Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
| Presented By: | | School of Music |
| Description: | | Andiamo features works from Italy’s Baroque and Romantic eras, showcasing the virtuosity
characteristic of Italian music. Baroque works (to be performed on baroque violin) include Pietro
Locatelli’s Caprice no. 1 from "L’arte del violino," a work that prominently displays Locatelli’s penchant for daring technique and exploration of the upper register of the violin, as well as Giuseppe
Tartini’s "Devil’s Trill" sonata, a work well-known in the violin repertoire for its fiendishly difficult double stops and sustained trills. Featured from the romantic era is Respighi’s only violin and piano
sonata, a demanding yet beautifully melodic piece for both instruments, performed with USF Professor Svetozar Ivanov. |
