USF Chamber Winds: Birdsong and other Nice Tunes |
| Event Type: | | Music |
| Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
| Presented By: | | School of Music |
| Description: | | Featured on this concert will be the pianistic skills of Dharshini Tambiah as she performs the mini-concerto by Olivier Messiaen entitled Oiseaux Exotiques, or Exotic Birds. Messiaen based his
composition on actual birdsong with which he was intrigued as a source for melody. As a compliment to Messiaen’s composition, we will be including another kind of bird song, the Suite in D by Arthur
Bird. The concert will also feature the Southeastern premiere of a new work by Mattthew Tommasini entitled Torn Canvases. Several other chamber works will be on the program conducted by various
master degree candidates. |
