Steinway Piano Series: James Giles |
Event Type: | | Music |
Facility: | | School of Music (MUS) |
Presented By: | | School of Music |
Description: | | The program’s core is the magisterial final piano sonata of Franz Schubert, written in the last months of his tragically short life. This immense landscape is juxtaposed with shorter works exploring the
piano’s diverse repertoire, including a selection of Brahms’s Waltzes and two of Albeniz’s most vivid depictions of Spain. The recital closes with a group of charming salon pieces by Golden Age pianists
such as Paderewski, Rosenthal, and Friedman, as well as modern masters Stephen Hough and Earl Wild. |
