Paul Salamunovich, one of the great choral legends, will give a lecture and workshop on Monday, April 12 at 7:30 in the Fine Arts Hall (FAH) Room 102.  Mr. Salamunovich conducted for many years 

the famous Los Angeles Master Chorale with which he received Grammy nominations.  The well-known composer Morton Laurdisen composed his "O Magnum Mysterium" and "Lux Aeterna:" 

for him.  He has been responsible for the choral music in over 100 Hollywood movies, including The Godfather, Angels and Demons, Air Force One, The Sun of All Fears and others.  He has conducted 

all-state honor choirs in every state in the United States.  He will give a lecture on how to read and perform Gregorian Chant, a subject about which he is recognized as a master teacher.   Gregorian 

chants were written for the Roman Catholic Church during the Medieval Period and used in services of that church for hundreds of years.  Mr. Salamunovich has been given the Papal Knighthood in the 

Order of St. Gregory the Great by Pope Paul VI for his world-wide contribution to Catholic church music; he was responsible for the music during Pope Paul VI s visit to Los Angeles, and for the 

funeral of Bob Hope.  In 2005, he was given the Robert Shaw Choral Award, the highest award of the American Choral Directors Association.
