PositivEnergy is a new limited liability company formed by the partners of Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture to provide related energy engineering services to a broad community of professionals
and clients to advance sustainable initiatives and high-performance design on a large scale.
He joined PositivEnergy Practice after leaving his position as Director in charge of Sustainable Engineering at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Roger led SOM’s engineering teams for Burj Khalifa
(formerly known as Burj Dubai), which opened in 2010 as the world’s tallest building, and Pearl River Tower, a high-performance office building now under construction in Guangzhou, China. Roger’s
body of work also includes a wide range of projects from government buildings and museums to laboratories, airports, hospitals, academic buildings, residential buildings and corporate offices. He
has worked on the design of the central Masdar headquarters building with Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill architecture, Masdar the carbon neutral planned city outside of Abu Dhabi, UAE.
In 2004, Roger was recognized by the United States Congress for his work in sustainability. In 2002 he co-authored Nantucket Principals, which focused on trends and issues influencing green building
and sustainable design. Roger is also a Senior Fellow with the Design Futures Council, a global network of design community professionals, and a frequent lecturer on high-performance design and
green engineering.
