As part of the public programs for Under the Spell of the Palm Tree: The Rice Collection of Cuban Art, currently on view at the Tampa Museum of Art, Graphicstudio will host a special evening 

dedicated to its long-standing collaborations with Cuban artists.



This event will feature a conversation with Margaret Miller, Director of Graphicstudio; Noel Smith, former Deputy Director of the USF Contemporary Art Museum and longtime curator of Cuban art; and 

members of the Graphicstudio team of master printers and fabricators. Together, they will reflect on decades of work with some of Cuba s most prominent contemporary artists, including Abel Barroso, 

Liset Castillo, Carlos Garaicoa, Glenda León, Los Carpinteros, Ibrahim Miranda, and Esterio Segura. 

 

A selection of works produced at Graphicstudio will be on view, offering a rare opportunity to learn about the artistic processes and cultural exchanges behind these collaborations. 

 

Founded in 1968 at the University of South Florida, Graphicstudio is an internationally recognized 

research atelier, known for its pioneering collaborations with contemporary artists. Its work with Cuban artists has contributed to a rich and ongoing dialogue between cultures through art.
