Description: | | USF professor John Robison and guest soprano Maggie Coleman present a program of solo music for
lute, theorbo, and archlute, along with English Renaissance and Italian Baroque songs. The program
includes solo music for 10-course Renaissance lute by Bacheler, Melii, Mertel, Reymann, and Vallet,
solo theorbo music by Piccinini and Kapsberger, and a late Baroque archlute sonata by Zamboni. All
genres of early instrumental music will be represented on the program, including preludes, dance
music, variations, and fantasias. The vocal portion of the concert will include Elizabethan lute songs
by Campion and Jones, plus Italian Baroque songs by Caccini and Cesti with the continuo parts
performed on the theorbo or archlute. |
