Jimmy Turrell Visiting Artist Lecture

Event Type: Lecture
Facility: USF St. Petersburg Campus
Presented By: School of Art & Art History
Description:
Jimmy Turrell: Collage, Culture & Creative Practice

British artist and designer Jimmy Turrell will discuss a career that has moved between art, music, film, fashion and graphic design, including work for Beck, The Rolling Stones, Chanel, Apple, Adidas and

The Chemical Brothers.

Using major commissions alongside personal projects, sketchbooks and work-in-progress, Jimmy will

explore the ideas, influences and creative processes behind his work, and how handmade collage, drawing, printmaking and experimentation continue to underpin his practice.

The talk will also look at the less straightforward side of building a creative career: mistakes, unexpected turns and projects that didn't go to plan, but ultimately became blessings in disguise.

Through these experiences, Jimmy will discuss collaboration, experimentation, and the importance of developing an individual visual language rather than following a predetermined path.
