Gary Smulyan, multiple winner of Baritone Saxophonist of the year by Downbeat Magazine, Jazz 
Times, and the Jazz Journalists Association, will perform with the USF Jazz Ensemble and Jazztet in 
the kickoff Monday Night Jazz Series concert of the season.  Mr. Smulyan, whose many credits 
include stints with the Dave Holland Orch., the Woody Herman, the Dizzy Gillespie, Orch, and the 
Vanguard Jazz Orch, will be performing works from Be-bop to contemporary jazz.  The USF Jazztet 
will play music from their successful tour of the United Kingdom this summer.
